To burn-in subtitles you can read the link at the top of the message or find another subject here at the stackexchange. Basically you can burn-in subtitles from MKV to MP4 using this command ffmpeg -i input.mkv -filter_complex "[0:v:0]subtitles=input.mkv:si=0[v]" `-map "[v]"` -map 0:a:0 -c:a copy output.mp4
I suspect using -map 0 causes the extra subtitle stream to be attached to the picture video stream (instead of the main video stream), causing it to only have 1 frame (the first subtitle entry). How can I avoid this and have extra subtitle(s) be attached to the main video stream, without having to remove the poster picture?
1 Answer. You can't push subtitles out of the frame, so your best bet may be to move them to the top of the frame. Tools > Preferences > Subtitles > Force subtitle position, then set something approximating the height of your frame, in pixels. You need to relaunch VLC for the change to take effect. After comments… the .srt file is mis-timed.

1. If you are working on a single subtitle file you don't have to use map option. It's really useful if you are working on files with multiple streams ie. videos with multiple audio and/or subtitle tracks but unnecessary for single stream files. For your use case this should suffice: ffmpeg -i input.ass -metadata language="eng" output.ass.3. You can add a subtitle by using annotate_figure twice to obtain the desired effect. For example: annotate_figure ( annotate_figure (all.plots, top=text_grob ("Subtitle"), ), top=text_grob ("Main title") ) This way is also really nice if you are trying to use a variable in your title. subtitle_txt1 = "This is a" annotate_figure ( annotate
Without any -map options, ffmpeg will only pick one stream of any supported type: video, audio, subtitles. So, add map options to pick the required stream. ffmpeg -i "xxxxxxx" -map 0:v:0 -map 0:a:0 -map 0:s -c copy -y -f mpegts test.ts
